Announcing Dr. Kathleen Russell as the Manager at the SWCRC

Dear Colleagues,
It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Kathleen Russell has accepted the position of manager of the Southwestern Colorado Research Center located in Yellow Jacket. Dr. Russell currently serves as an agriculture research specialist in the Department of Plant and Soil Science at the University of Kentucky. She will begin her new position within the Agricultural Experiment Station on September 1.
Dr. Russell has a bachelor’s degree in natural resource conservation and management, a master’s degree in entomology, and a doctorate in integrated plant and soil sciences, all from the University of Kentucky. She is a member of the Agronomy Science of America, the Crop Science Society of America, and the Soil Science Society of America. She is also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Association of Plant Breeders.
In her current position, she manages research trials in grain and oilseed crop production including: management evaluations, population studies, chemical analysis, hybrid and cultivar yield trials, breeding trials and soil fertility studies. Additionally, she is responsible for experimental design, planting, maintenance, fertilizer prescriptions, herbicide applications, and the harvest of research trials.
Please join me in thanking Tyler Thompson who chaired the search committee as well as the members of the committee who worked so diligently and thoughtfully to bring Dr. Russell and the other candidates to Southwestern Colorado. I am delighted to be able to welcome Dr. Russell to our Ag Family, and please take a moment to welcome her personally after she arrives.
