Community Alliance for Education and Hunger Relief

In partnership with other organizations, the Western Colorado Research Center has established the Community Alliance for Education and Hunger Relief, which increases the amount of high-quality fruit and vegetables available to foodbanks in Mesa County and across Colorado. All orchard fruit currently growing on nine acres at the WCRC Orchard Mesa Station will be directed to hunger relief, and 9 acres will be dedicated to vegetable production for hunger relief programs. The WCRC will expand its community outreach by hosting some classes in the Western Colorado Community College sustainable agriculture program.  In addition, it will open up the Research Center to area K-12 students for hands-on educational experiences in agriculture and STEM.
