Research Greenhouses<\/h1>\n

There are 12 research greenhouse bays within the PGF complex. They all range in environmental conditions. Each bay contains up to 9 rolling benches and hosts a range of research projects-everything from the CSU Wheat Breeding Program to Invasive weed species to Rice. <\/span><\/span>Some of the work can be found through the Wheet Breeding and Genetics Program<\/a> and the Weed Research Laboratory<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Teaching Greenhouse Bay<\/h1>\n

The teaching greenhouse, bay 112B, is designated for teaching labs, clubs and plant preparation only. Greenhouse are for plant material only. <\/span>No pots, trays, potting media, dried\/dead plants, fertilizers or other chemicals should be stored on benches<\/span><\/b>. If found, items will be immediately discarded. <\/span><\/p>\n

Once a study has ended, plant material, potting media and pots must be promptly disposed. If material remains two weeks after semester has ended, we will remove plant material and charge a cleaning fee of $200. Contact PGF for alternative arrangements if necessary.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Conservatory<\/h2>\n

The Universities best kept secret! Our conservatory contains a large collection of tropical plants and exotic specimens. The conservatory is open to the public Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Come on in to enjoy a taste of the tropics on a cold winter day!\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PI\/Faculty Responsibilities<\/h2>\n

All responsibilities and best practices stated in policy apply to teaching greenhouses-<\/span>with NO exceptions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, <\/span>PI\u2019s\/Faculty<\/span><\/b> in the teaching greenhouse are responsible for:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Providing list of TA\u2019s and work study students at beginning of each semester to manager<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Providing information to TA\u2019s and work study on <\/span>access requirements, WPS training and orientation\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Training and enforcing of PGF rules and responsibilities including:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\n
      \n
    • Inspection of newly arrived plant material<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Weekly cleaning and tidying up of space<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Watering, cleaning and maintaining plant material<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Proper spacing of plants<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Removal of moss and oxalis in plant material\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Proper trash and compost removal<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Completing a space request for each semester-<\/span>reservations do not automatically roll over<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Staying within assigned bench space-<\/span><\/b>plant material on the floor or hanging from benches is not acceptable.\u00a0 If additional space is needed, contact PGF.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Requesting permission to alter mist bench timers, lighting or other equipment-all requests must be via email.\u00a0 <\/span>V<\/span><\/b>erbal requests are not accepted<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Requesting permission to take cuttings, complete air layering or other Conservatory-related projects<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Notifying PGF <\/span>(via email)<\/span><\/i> of afterhours study groups, workshops and other special events<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
